Lourdes Pilgrimage Preparation Day, June 2009
Families, carers, staff and volunteers gathered on the last Saturday of June to meet each other and prepare for the Lourdes pilgrimage at the end of July. The day started with members of St Joseph's talking about Lourdes and what we all hoped for from the week. Helen held up our banner which will lead us in processions with the theme 'The Way of Bernadette' inscribed on it, made by our art students. Father Michael spoke about the special place that is Lourdes. There were activities to prepare us for our Mass, paintings to be carried up to the altar, the liturgy practised and bidding prayers written. The afternoon concluded with Father Michael celebrating Mass in the chapel and our families acting out the gospel of Mary and Martha, which will be the first mass that we will celebrate in Lourdes. A wonderful beginning to our pilgrimage!
