Jazz Evening, September 2011
ALL THAT JAZZ..... Fifty Jazz aficionados mingled at St Joseph’s Pastoral Centre in Hendon, on Saturday night, for an evening of music, dining and wine – harmony for the soul.
The evening was an initiative to promote the work of adults with learning disabilities who come to the Centre for Life Skills courses. Our Restaurant offers training in the skills and safety practices needed for a job in a café or serving canapés and drinks at a function. It also aims to develop social skills around a community meal experience. Several students helped prepare food for the event. Volunteers from several local schools served food during the evening.
A Champagne reception flowed into dinner with two talented musical acts, Soul Harmony and Ileana and Antonio, greeted rapturously by the diners. A raffle closed the evening before guests shimmied out feeling it is a Wonderful World…
